First there was the idea to design and carve the chess players like cheetah (the king),cobra (the queen), bears ( the castle),kangaroo (the knight), ostrich (the bishop) and the suricates (the pawns). Then, as I couldn´t find a suitable chess casket ,I had to built it myself. Just too much to do it again.

May be this trunk of a teak tree was carried away from the jungle by an elephant,as this piece is over 100 years old. The elephant was cut from the inner part of this chunk of teak wood.

Once upon a time these strong animals were forced to carry illegally cut teak wood out of the deep jungles of Myanmar. They had no choice but to destroy their own habitat.If they only were able to understand what they were forced to do.....a disc of very old teak wood from Java....
